Therapeutic indications: it is indicated in the diagnosis and treatment of patients with hyperthyroidism or to select cases with the possibility of thyroid carcinoma. Treatment of thyroid diseases. Graves' disease, toxic multinodular goiter, papillary and follicular thyroid carcinoma, including metastatic disease.
gelatin capsules with sodium iodide solution (131I) absorbed in its inert support (gelatin capsule) are rapidly dissolved in the stomach, after oral administration, releasing the iodine-131 (131I) which is absorbed in the gastrointestinal mucosa. After absorption, iodine-131 (131I) is primarily distributed in the extracellular compartment and is concentrated, through biological organification processes, in the thyroid gland and, without organification, in the salivary glands and stomach.
