The 177Lu -DOTA-TATE is used for the treatment of neuroendocrine tumors (NETs) and their metastases, which express high concentrations of somatostatin receptors. The 177Lu also emits gamma radiation, facilitating imaging. It also has a shorter penetration radius than 99Y, making it useful for the radiotherapy of small tumors.
