Description
OSTEO-TEC (99mTc), is mainly concentrated in the bone compartment; the mechanism responsible for this is the chemoabsorption of the phosphate groups of the agent with the hydroxyapatite of the bone matrix. The process of bone uptake of a phosphorous agent has three phases:
- the first corresponds to the transfer of the agent from the vascular to the extravascular compartment.
- the second corresponds to the dissociation of the biological transporter agent, plasma ionic calcium.
- the third represents the concentration rate in the bone matrix.
Diagnostic indications: for diagnostic studies of the skeleton and imaging to demonstrate the possible existence of areas with altered osteogenic processes in adult and/or pediatric patients, such as: primary and secondary bone tumors, infections, bone disease of metabolic origin, trauma, stress fractures, among others.
